Service Technician – Job Description
Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for performing installation, maintenance and service/repairs of water and wastewater treatment equipment for municipalities and industrial companies. Work closely with stakeholders that include customers, engineers, warehouse team, customer service team and service and automation team. Duties include complete factory acceptance testing including checking wiring and proper labelling, pre-startup documentation, travelling to various customer sites and checking correct equipment delivered, startup and service of equipment, completion of startup documentation, training and completion of startup and service reports.

Job Duties
- Work on drinking water and wastewater treatment equipment by completing startups, maintenance and service.
- Review PFD, P&IDs, electrical and mechanical drawings and layouts prior to and during all startups.
- Complete factory acceptance testing and PLC programming as directed by Director of Service and Automation.
- Attend all startup meetings that include startup readiness meetings (pre-startup), daily startup toolbox talks meetings (during startups) and lessons learned meetings (post-startups).
- Prepare and complete startup checklists and training documentation.
- Confirm electrical and layout drawings are correct and troubleshoot I/O checks using Multimeter.
- Programming and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI.
- Document and review with project team the deficiencies list during startup.
- Work with project team to ensure deficiencies list is completed and ensure customer requirements are met 100%.
- Ensure all startup documentation is completed which include the following: FAT checklists, startup checklists (voltage, amperage and resistance readings) and startup reports.
- After startup, ensure Completion Certificate is signed by customer.
- Complete any reported non-conformance reports or customer complaints during startups or FAT testing and escalate to Quality Manager Representative (QMR).
- Inspects equipment to diagnose errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions.
- Complete all service reports on a timely manner.
- Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints
- Evaluate, assess any health and safety hazards prior to working on any equipment on jobsites and warehouse by completing a Field Level Assessment.
- Perform work in compliance with quality management and control systems as well as relevant legislation and safety procedures.
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner and ensure it is up to date on any maintenance.
- Ensure vehicle license is valid.
- Ensure tools are in working conditions and used in a safe manner.
- Follow all company’s safety procedures and protocols.
- Build positive relationships with customers.
- Other duties as assigned to support customer and business needs.
Work Conditions
- Work in water and wastewater treatment plant environments
- Some exposure to water, chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise
- Heavy lifting / moving, walking, standing, and climbing will be required routinely.
- May be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions.
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- May encounter various elemental conditions, e.g. rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
- Associated risks involved with field specimen and sample collection
- Required to wear personal protective equipment, e.g. Safety boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
- Manual dexterity required to operate and calibrate field equipment and tools
- May be required to perform repetitive heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
- Travel will be required
Requirements
- Technical College Diploma or technical trade
- Beneficial previous water treatment or industrial operator experience
- Technical/mechanical aptitude, plus basic computer skills
- Electrical aptitude required
- Beneficial previous experience with PLC programming Allan Bradley, ControlLogix/ RsLogix 500/ 5000, HMI programming, FactoryTalk View
- SCADA and DCS experience
- Knowledge of Electrical Codes, standards
- Ability to multi-task, willingness to learn and train, dependable and consistent.
- Willing to travel to client locations

- Valid Driver's license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
