We are looking for an eager, hands-on Junior Data Center Technician to join our team. Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Assembly & Staging: Unbox, assemble, and configure enterprise server chassis, RAID controllers, RAM, storage drives, and network expansion cards;
- Rack & Stack Field Operations: Visit our data center facilities to physically mount servers, top-of-rack switches, and power distribution units (PDUs) into server cabinets;
- Cable Management: Run, route, label, and manage copper Cat6 and high-speed fiber optic patch cords cleanly according to rack diagrams;
- Remote Hands Support: Serve as the physical "hands and eyes" on-site for our global systems engineering team, assisting with hardware swaps, rebooting nodes, and basic troubleshooting;
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of incoming server components, spare optics, drive sleds, and cabling inventory.
Who You Are
- Hardware Enthusiast: You love building PCs, tinkering with server hardware, or setting up home labs. You know your way around motherboards, RAM, storage arrays, and network cables;
- Eager to Learn: No prior enterprise data center experience required! We will train you on enterprise server architectures, SAN/vSAN, and data center best practices;
- Great Communicator: Comfortable collaborating with our remote engineering lead and local management team;
- Detail-Oriented & Reliable: You take pride in neat cable routing, careful handling of sensitive electronics, and clear documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or trade certifications like CompTIA A+ / Network+ is a bonus, but not required);
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel to our Alberta data center facilities;
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (rackmount servers and hardware boxes);
- Basic understanding of computer hardware components and networking concepts.
