A Saw Operator is responsible for setting up and operating cutting machinery to trim or cut materials such as aluminum according to specifications.
Job Duties and responsibilities:
- Measure, mark, and cut materials based on work orders or blueprints
- Set up machines, including blade changes and adjustments
- Fabricate metal components according to specifications.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Maintain machinery, report concerns to the Shop Manager.
- Keep work area clean and follow safety protocols.
- Adhere to company policies and goals.
- Operate machines, inspect work for quality.
- Lift and position work pieces manually.
- Change tools and perform machine maintenance.
- Check material for defects and maintain inventory.
- Receive and verify Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy and special requirements.
- Attend production meetings as needed.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Valid forklift license preferred.
- Run first-piece samples for calibration.
- Serve as the main contact for shop assistance.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Lift up to 50 lbs consistently.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (often preferred)
- Experience with saw machinery or manufacturing equipment is an asset
- Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
- Basic understanding of blueprints or technical drawings
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Physical ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods
Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Uxbridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Saw operator ( Aluminum): 2 years (required)
