Summary
Join Rideau Supply as a Buyer in Canada to play a vital role in our procurement and supply chain operations. Based in Canada, this position works collaboratively with the Director of Procurement to optimize inventory performance, support exceptional customer service, mitigate supply chain risk, and achieve inventory turn, fill rate, and inventory value objectives across all branches.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director Procurement to ensure inventory levels and product requirements are consistently met.
- Execute and continuously optimize inter-branch inventory transfers.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels across all product lines by reviewing forecasts and inventory metrics to support company fill-rate and inventory turnover objectives.
- Analyze purchase order expediting reports and proactively follow up with vendors as required.
- Review purchase order acknowledgments and implement corrective actions when discrepancies arise.
- Recommend adjustments to reorder points as needed to align with demand trends and inventory strategy.
- Monitor backorder and delinquent purchase reports; coordinate with vendors to source alternate products and recommend substitutions as appropriate.
- Ensure raw material procurement aligns with manufacturing schedules and production requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships, including daily purchase order processing, shipment tracking, confirmation approvals, corrective action communication, lead-time evaluations, and price change reviews.
- dentify and assess potential supply sources, providing guidance when requests are not operationally feasible.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, and other internal teams to support inventory availability and customer service objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- College or University education or equivalent training in a related discipline
- Three to five years of related or comparable work experience
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management, or equivalent designation an asset but not required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Experienced in all aspects of effective inventory management.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and vendor relationship management skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in a wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or industrial supply environment.
