We seek an Assistant Cidermaker to support the needs of the business in the fermentation, blending, and other various tasks in production.
Position Overview
Candidates for this role will be responsible for assisting our head cidermaker in the production of our ciders, inventory management, and keg management. We are looking for a hands-on person who enjoys solving problems, strives to meet production deadlines, follows SOPs, enjoys the highs and lows of working in an active production facility and is motivated to improve and maintain high standards of operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Cidemaker with production of ciders at Annapolis Cider Co
- Assist with filtration, including filter set up, cleaning and maintenance
- Assist in all aspects of fermentation, and fermentation management, including the development of new seasonal ciders
- Keg management, cleaning, filling, and arrange deliveries
- Help with accessory cellar tasks such as cleaning floors, drains, tank exteriors, warehouse tasks, and other duties as assigned by the Cidermaker and Operations Manager
- Assist in movement of goods and transportation of products. This includes (but not limited to) moving cider, totes, pallets, equipment and supplies and finished products
- Drive the Annapolis Cider Co truck, forklift, pallet jacks in a safe and efficient manner
- Keep a tidy workplace, and follow company SOPs to ensure quality and stability of product
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitization, and maintenance in accordance with food safety standards
- Measure and record production metrics and lab analyses
- Use Google Workspace tools and inventory management software for communication, tracking and reporting
- Work positively and constantly to improve process and quality of the workplace
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
- Must have the ability to lift more than 50 lbs , reach, bend, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, and work around loud noises
- Comfortable operating or learning to operate heavy equipment and industrial machinery
- Valid driver’s license (required for deliveries and truck operation)
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
- Experience in cider, brewing, wine, distilling, food production, or similar manufacturing environments is an asset
- Adept troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Positive, attentive, punctual, respectful, and motivated work ethic
- Work independently and in a team
- Demonstrate safe work practices
Work Location: In person, Port Williams, Greenwich, Wolfville and surrounding areas of Nova Scotia.
