Job Summary:
The Project Manager will manage labour, purchasing, supplier and subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and financials of assigned projects across the GTA and work collaboratively with the assigned project coordinator and site team. The Project manager will have a focus on plumbing, and HVAC/R, in ICI sectors and will be responsible for managing client, supplier, and subcontractor relationships in a professional manner.
Your work will include (Duties / Responsibilities)
Project Management
- Manage various sizes of mechanical projects.
- Effectively manage the labour workforce on assigned projects with the general foreperson.
- Actively participate and contribute to project meetings.
- Attend client and construction meetings as required and disseminate the information to the workforce, subcontractors, and suppliers as applicable.
- Attend job site progress walks and monitor progress and schedule and update this information on our project management software.
- Participate in project reviews to foster the continuous process improvements.
- Work with and interpret mechanical drawings, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and specs.
- Working with our Project Management software to update all meeting notes, pictures, project progress etc.
- Estimating and assisting in estimating if required.
Stakeholder relationships
- Support the project foreperson by developing a strong working relationship and providing project execution guidance for assigned projects together with the general foreperson.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop project plans and specifications, whilst maintaining strong relationships.
- Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships; review contracts for scope, maintain productivity, quality, and costs, and ensure the projects are completed in a manner that supports the overall strategic and operational objectives of the company.
Coordination
- Coordinate and schedule project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Support the project coordinator to procure necessary materials, equipment, and resources for project execution.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, addressing any issues or concerns.
- Safety
- Ensure that Horizon Mechanicals’ safety standards are always communicated and adhered to.
- Ensure the team on your projects are all adhering to all safety procedures and all safety certificates are up to date when working on projects.
- Support our JHSC as needed.

- Any other ad hoc project related duties
What you bring:
- Outstanding problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills to make sound decisions under pressure and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
- Comfortable in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a proven track record of successfully prioritizing tasks based on demand and deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven project management experience, at least 5 years, within the mechanical contracting sector (preference given to those with mechanical project management experience).
- Proven experience in the Industrial, Commercial, & Institutional (ICI) sector.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of project finances including, budgeting, job cost review, and managing sub-trade/supplier contracts.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles, as well as extensive knowledge in drawings, scope, and specification, demonstrating strong technical knowledge as it relates to mechanical scopes of work.
- Familiarity with construction management/project management software.
- Experienced in the use of MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with building code requirements and health and safety standards.
- Valid Drivers License and own reliable transport
Pay: $90,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
