Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support our growing mid-sized trucking and distribution business. This role is responsible for day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and administrative support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics environment with both office staff and drivers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support full-cycle recruitment (job postings, screening, scheduling interviews)
- Coordinate driver and warehouse hiring processes
- Manage onboarding, orientations, and documentation for new hires
- Ensure driver qualification files meet regulatory standards
2. Employee Relations
- Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and HR-related issues
- Support conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives
- Assist managers with performance management processes
3. Compliance & Records Management
- Maintain employee files and HRIS systems
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and transportation regulations (e.g., DOT/transport compliance where applicable)
- Track certifications, licenses, and training for drivers and warehouse staff
4. Payroll & Benefits Support
- Assist with payroll preparation and time tracking
- Coordinate benefits enrollment and respond to employee questions
- Maintain records of leaves, absences, and attendance
5. Training & Development
- Coordinate safety and compliance training programs
- Support onboarding and ongoing development initiatives
6. HR Administration
- Prepare HR reports and metrics (turnover, headcount, absenteeism)
- Support policy updates and HR documentation
- Assist with special HR projects as needed
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 2–5 years of HR experience (logistics, transportation, or industrial environment preferred)
- Knowledge of employment standards and workplace regulations
- Experience supporting hourly and field-based workforce (drivers, warehouse staff) is an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRIS experience preferred

- $70,000-$90,000 (pro-rated for part-time)
