Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Deliver exceptional service to airline customers in accordance with their contractual and operational requirements.
- Review operational activities, operating costs, and forecasts to ensure station and company objectives are achieved.
- Monitor daily operational performance and take immediate corrective action to address performance gaps.
- Administer company policies and provide effective oversight of all functions and responsibilities carried out by managers and supervisors reporting to the position.
- Develop, review, update, and implement the company's strategic plans, including operational and financial performance initiatives, as well as new business development opportunities.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Menzies Aviation policies, procedures, and customer airline requirements.
- Participate in all mandatory training required by Menzies Aviation and customer airlines, as applicable to the position.
Leadership and People Management
- Provide effective leadership in employee and labour relations through open communication, coaching, appropriate corrective action, and performance recognition.
- Foster a problem-solving culture focused on improving operational performance and key performance indicators.
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees to support succession planning and career advancement opportunities.
- Work closely with Human Resources and the Safety, Security & Environment (SSE) teams to implement effective training and employee development programs.
- Hold supervisors accountable for the timely and effective management of all employee-related matters, with a focus on performance improvement and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the company's attendance and reliability program.
- Safeguard company assets and ensure there is no misuse of company property.
Health, Safety and Security
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all Menzies Aviation health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensure the station complies with all applicable federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and regulatory requirements, including the posting of all mandatory government notices.
- Conduct complete, accurate, and timely investigations while establishing clear accountability and continuous improvement expectations.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Maintain effective communication between Operations, Administration, Payroll, Human Resources, Safety, Security, and Training departments.
- Coordinate staffing requirements with Station Administration to support recruitment and workforce planning initiatives.
Physical Requirements

- Prepare correspondence, reports, and analytical documents to effectively communicate operational and employee-related information.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Physical Demands
- Regularly present information to groups and demonstrate excellent listening skills.
- Occasionally stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend while performing job duties.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 70 lbs. (31.8 kg).
- Perform extensive walking throughout airport operations and operate motorized vehicles as required.
- Maintain adequate near vision to safely perform job responsibilities.

- Ability to obtain and maintain all required security clearances, including successfully passing background screening.
- Must be available to work extended hours and flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, based on operational requirements.
- Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and be able to obtain and maintain a valid DA (Driver Airside) Permit.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership and management experience within the aviation industry.
- Specialized training in personnel management is mandatory.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex and critical business issues in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other related computer applications.
- Previous experience in airline or aviation operations is required.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate employees while improving operational performance through supervisors and frontline teams.
- Extensive experience in Ramp Handling Operations and a thorough understanding of airport operational departments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required security clearances.
- Thorough knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement (SGHA).
- Strong understanding of General Operations Manuals (GOMs), airline procedures, airport procedures, and applicable aviation regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international aviation safety and security standards, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting these standards throughout the organization.
- Strong service-level orientation with a proven ability to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements and exceed customer expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including:
- Customer airlines
- Airport representatives
- Local airport authorities
- Third-party service providers and business partners
- Ability to develop teams, implement succession planning strategies, and optimize business processes to support changing operational requirements.
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to identify operational efficiencies and inefficiencies and adjust staffing and resources to meet changing business demands.
- Highly adaptable in a multicultural work environment, with the ability to work collaboratively with union representatives.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive management reports for senior leadership.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with employees, leadership, customers, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
