Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Iqaluit, Nunavut

Tower Arctic Ltd. is continuously active in heavy, civil and building construction projects with its head office and base facilities in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Over the years, projects have included commercial and industrial buildings, excavation, aggregate production, road building, water and sewer distribution systems, water treatment facilities, residential construction, institutional construction, weather stations, subdivision development, reservoirs, pipelines, bulk fuel facilities, airports and port facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be responsible to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, and maintain heavy-duty equipment used in construction, material handling, transportation, and aggregate production. Check bulldozers, cranes, graders, excavators, and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components. Repairs and routine maintenance on heavy trucks as well as equipment will need to be completed and documented. List of equipment requiring repairs and maintenance includes:
Excavators, from Cat 307 to Cat 365
Front end Loaders from Cat 936 to Cat 980
Cat D6-D8 Bulldozer
Cat Graders
Crushing equipment, Cone crushers, jaw crushers, screeners etc.
Tandem dump trucks – Western Stars and Macks
Epiroc Drills
General construction equipment including packers, zoom booms, man lifts, pickup trucks etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Background in heavy equipment maintenance and repairs
· Experience working on heavy civil Construction equipment.
· Familiar with working on Caterpillar, Komatsu, as well as other brands of equipment
· Able to work independently.
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Previous construction experience is an asset as well as remote work experience.
· Able to work away from home for longdurations of time
