WEEKEND BARISTA | PART-TIME
ABOUT LIMA CAFÉ
Lima Café is a locally owned dessert and coffee shop in Burnaby inspired by the flavours and spirit of Lima, Peru.
We are passionate about homemade desserts, quality coffee, and creating a warm experience where customers feel genuinely welcomed.
We are looking for an experienced Barista who enjoys working in a small independent café, takes pride in their work, and thrives as part of a close-knit team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare high-quality espresso-based beverages with consistency and care
- Provide warm, genuine customer service
- Take orders and operate the POS system accurately
- Plate and serve desserts with attention to presentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
- Restock supplies throughout the shift
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Support the kitchen with simple tasks such as plating, dishwashing, and restocking
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- During quieter periods, take initiative by cleaning, organizing, restocking, and helping prepare the café for the next rush
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced as a barista in a café environment
- Comfortable preparing espresso-based beverages independently
- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Proactive and willing to help wherever needed
- Able to stay calm under pressure during busy periods
- Comfortable working independently without constant supervision
- Someone who naturally notices what needs to be done and takes initiative
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Previous barista experience is required
- Experience using a commercial espresso machine
- English communication skills
- Weekend availability (Friday–Sunday)
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- FoodSafe Level 1
- Experience working in an independent café
- Latte art experience
- Experience with Square POS
SCHEDULE
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday availability is required
- 2–3 shifts per week
- Shifts between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Additional weekday shifts may be available based on business needs
