Deliverables
● Run civil and environmental field work — site visits, topographic surveys, geotechnical compaction inspections, chemical environmental soil and groundwater testing, participate and conduct geotechnical drilling with in-house machines, and ACI/CSA concrete testing — and take pride in completing your assignments end-to-end from the day's transfer document.
● Build clear, accurate inspection and field reports that stand up to internal review, so the team can rely on your numbers without re-checking every line.
● Grow into concrete testing (ACI) through company-provided training, and add capability across new inspection and survey methods over time.
● Take pride in being the on-site face of King EPCM — communicating with clients and crews so everyone knows what's happening and when.
● Manage expectations ahead of time — flag anything that might slip before it does, so nothing lands as a surprise.
● Grow into more complex and higher-profile project types as your expertise deepens — this seat has real room to expand beyond steady-state work.
Expectations
By 90 days.
You're running your strongest inspection and survey work end-to-end without sign-off, and bringing structured recommendations on the newer work rather than open-ended questions. You know our standards, you know who to ask when you need something, and you know where to find the resources to help yourself.
By 6 months.
Your work reliably clears internal review the first time (a minimum 75% first-submission pass on your strongest areas, 50% on developing ones), with any revisions closing in a single round. Your reviewers spend less time correcting your work, and the field runs smoothly around your assignments.
By 12 months.
You've become a genuine go-to expert in several areas and grown new skills you didn't arrive with, so more of your work runs independently. If you're improving the checklists and workflows you use along the way, even better — but the core win is dependable, expanding expertise.
Requirements
● Strong spoken and written English — you'll represent King EPCM directly to clients on site and in your reports.
● A natural communicator: you listen actively, read what the other side needs, and manage expectations before problems surface rather than after.
● Independent in the field — you make sound technical calls on your own, and you have the humility to ask for help when something is genuinely beyond you. This role is not for someone who needs to be told what to do, and not for someone who won't ask when they're out of their depth.
● Completed OACETT C.Tech or CET designation (EIT registration is a welcome bonus).
● 3+ years of hands-on civil/environmental field experience, with the ability to demonstrate independent work in a technical interview.
● Familiarity with local Ontario / GTA construction standards and practices.
● Confident with topographic surveying using GPS and total station.
● Willing to obtain ACI concrete-testing certification through our training.
● Physically fit for field work — site visits, heavy mechanized hand tools, loading and unloading, and towing a small trailer, in conditions ranging from 35 °C+ heat to −30 °C cold.
● Able to drive to site: with a G2 licence you'll use your own vehicle; with a full G licence you'll be added to our company vehicle list.
Who You'll Work With
You'll report to the Principal Engineer and work alongside a small, tight-knit field team — an experienced lead technician and a field dispatch / field engineer. Dispatch sets who goes where and by when; your technical work is reviewed by a geotechnical engineer-in-training and the Principal Engineer. We're a small team with real workflows, tools, and training in place and still maturing as we grow. You get what you need to do the job well — and the room to run with it.
