The Edmonton Hotel & Convention Centre is seeking a strong, hands-on General Manager to lead the daily operations of our full-service hotel. This role is best suited for an experienced operator who takes ownership, leads from the front, and is comfortable being involved in all areas of the business.
Reporting directly to Ownership and the Vice President, the General Manager will be responsible for overall performance of the hotel, including operations, team leadership, guest experience, and financial results.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Day-to-Day Operations
- Oversee all departments including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, and Sales
- Be actively involved in daily operations and support teams as needed
- Ensure the hotel runs efficiently while maintaining strong service standards
- Identify issues quickly and implement practical solutions
Leadership & Team Culture
- Lead, coach, and hold department managers accountable
- Build a reliable, hard-working team with a positive culture
- Set clear expectations and ensure standards are consistently met
- Step in where needed — this is not a desk-only role
Guest Experience
- Ensure guests receive a clean, comfortable, and consistent experience
- Handle escalated guest concerns directly and professionally
- Lead by example in service and accountability
Sales & Business Development
- Work closely with Ownership on driving occupancy and revenue
- Build relationships with corporate clients, crews, and local businesses
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue across rooms, meetings, and F&B
Property & Maintenance
- Ensure the property is well maintained and operating properly
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational standards throughout
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of hotel management experience in a leadership role
- Strong operational knowledge across all departments
- Proven ability to manage costs and drive revenue
- A hands-on leader who is comfortable being on the floor daily
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions quickly
- Professional, accountable, and reliable
