JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To set up and operate hydraulic press to cold form metal parts (400 ton). 1 year experience minimum.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Hydraulic press and dies, measuring and marking equipment, cranes, chains and slings, set template or square, plate lifters or plate grabs, hand & sledgehammer, support tables, wrench for die positioning & lifting bar & pins to remove bottom die and punching sets.
MATERIALS
Mild steel, stainless or aluminum plate and sheet.
SURROUNDINGS
Inside machine shop or average factory type building. Slightly dirty, noisy and not uniformly heated.
SOURCE OF SUPERVISION
Branch Manager, Foreman or directed by Lead Hand as required.
WORKING PROCEDURE
1. Receives instruction and work card from foreman.
2. Select required dies & prepares press brake & position support tables.
3. Using crane or Forklift, lift pieces to work area.
4. Positions material in press to form shape.
5. Turn plate and repeat number of presses required to complete shape as necessary.
6. Remove piece from press, check for shape & size using template, adjust to correct for with hammer, adjust machine or stops for next piece if necessary.
7. Stack parts for removal and remove as required.
8. Moderate attention and care required to prevent damage to dies and machine while processing materials.
9. Keep work area clean and orderly, exercise all safety precautions.
10. Brake Press experience considered an asset
