Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving business growth by strengthening lender relationships, supporting agents with deal structuring, and identifying new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be a motivated sales professional with extensive knowledge of the mortgage industry and a passion for helping mortgage professionals succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Develop and execute strategies to increase mortgage origination volume.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Expand the brokerage's presence in targeted markets.
- Represent the brokerage at networking events, industry conferences, and community events.
Agent Support & Development
- Coach and mentor new and existing mortgage agents.
- Assist agents in structuring complex mortgage applications.
- Provide guidance on lender policies and mortgage products.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with agents to review production and business goals.
- Develop business plans to help agents increase their sales.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and industry partners.
- Act as the primary liaison between the brokerage and industry partners.
- Negotiate and maintain preferred lender relationships.
- Stay informed about lender guideline changes and communicate updates to agents.
Sales & Growth
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual business development targets.
- Increase agent recruitment and retention.
- Drive revenue growth through increased mortgage funding volumes.
- Monitor market trends and identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the mortgage industry.
- Previous experience as a Business Development Manager, Mortgage Specialist, or Senior Mortgage Agent.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Proven ability to meet sales targets.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented mindset.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel locally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Skills
- Licensed Mortgage Agent/Broker.
- Existing network within the mortgage industry.
- Experience using mortgage origination systems and CRM platforms.
Pay: $50,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
