Schedule:
This position is casual - as needed on weekends, nights, and weekdays.
Wage:
Starting Wage is $22.00/hr, plus shift differentials as applicable.
Job Summary:
The Housekeeper/ Laundry Worker reports directly to the Housekeeping Manager and is responsible for providing initial, ongoing and continuous resident suite and building housekeeping services, including laundry and linen service.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Standard First Aid Certification
- WHMIS Certification
- Grade 12 or equivalent; 1–2 years’ housekeeping experience in hospitality preferred
- Trained in proper lifting techniques
- Trained with handling emergency situations such as power outages, fire and earthquake
- Experience working with seniors an asset
- Must have knowledge, skills and training on how to manage and respond to potential harassment in the work place (verbal, physical and sexual)
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality of customer service and hospitality
- Self driven individual with the ability to work well with little supervision
- Works with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Confidentiality, patience, and an ability to treat staff and residents with respect and dignity
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with the various individuals involved in providing service in a flexible resident focused environment
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Polite, courteous and communicates with professionalism
- Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 25 lbs, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position
Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
