We are seeking a Residential Architectural Technologist (Intermediate to Senior level) to lead and support the design and production of high-quality architectural drawings and documentation for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Create, coordinate, and oversee detailed construction drawings for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with company standards and client expectations.
- Develop master plans and revise models/elevations as needed to reflect design changes.
- Produce 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to support presentations and client communication.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure compliance with the Manitoba Building Code, local zoning bylaws, and city requirements.
- Conduct periodic building code and performance reviews throughout project phases.
- Provide insights and development on building envelope, structure, and systems integration.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and clients to streamline workflows and address project needs.
- Liaise with municipal authorities for permitting and approvals.
- Coordinate with engineers and consultants to ensure alignment and resolve design conflicts.
- Participate in contract administration and provide technical support during construction, including site visits and quality checks.
Team Leadership & Mentorship (Senior Level)
- Mentor and guide junior technologists and drafting staff, ensuring technical quality and professional growth.
- Review drawings for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) prior to permit and construction issuance.
- Provide hands-on design solutions and sketch concepts when needed.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in residential architecture, including custom homes, renovations, and subdivisions.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; SketchUp or other 3D modeling/rendering tools are an asset.
- Experience with BuilderTrend would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code and local residential construction practices.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of construction assemblies and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Valid driver’s license (for site visits)
