Job Overview
The Combi / Forklift Operator supports the ijoist and dimensional coating line through the safe and efficient movement, staging, handling, and final preparation of material. This position is responsible for staging wood for production, manually handling ijoist and dimensional product as required, assisting with strapping and tarping, completing touch-up work, and conducting final visual quality checks to help ensure product meets work order and quality requirements before leaving the building.
Responsibilities
- Operate combi forklift and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete daily pre-use combi inspections and report any mechanical, safety, or operating concerns immediately.
- Stage wood products for the coating line according to production schedules and work orders.
- Manually handle ijoist and dimensional product on the line as required.
- Assist with strapping, tarping, and securing finished lifts for storage or shipment.
- Identify, sort, label, and organize lifts accurately in accordance with work order requirements.
- Perform coating touch-ups using a roller or brush as required.
- Conduct final visual quality inspections before product leaves the building.
- Identify and report product defects, damage, inconsistencies, or other quality concerns to the supervisor or line lead.
- Move raw materials and finished goods between yard, staging, and production areas.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in production and yard environments.
- Follow all company safety procedures, operating standards, and production requirements.
- Work closely with line operators, supervisors, and shipping personnel to support production flow and outbound accuracy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Previous experience operating a combi forklift, forklift, or similar material handling equipment is required.
- Experience in a manufacturing, lumber, coating, or industrial production environment is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, production instructions, product tags, and lift identification requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, safety, and quality.
- Ability to perform manual handling and general labour duties in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis as part of the role’s physical demands.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are required.
- Valid forklift certification is an asset; certification or recertification may be required based on company policy.
- Lumber knowledge is an asset.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical test is required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a production plant and yard environment. Position may require indoor and outdoor work in varying temperatures and conditions. Regular standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, and equipment operation are required. This is a physically demanding role requiring safe material handling, repetitive movement, and consistent attention to product quality and workplace safety.

Pay: $23.50-$25.50 per hour
