Job Summary
Local, family-run construction company, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage our company's financial records and oversee accounting operations. The successful individual must be someone who takes ownership of the books, enjoys problem-solving, and stays organized in a fast paced construction environment. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and willing to work closely with owners and other administration staff. Cross training will be required for full coverage in office as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records using accounting software Sage 50 Premium, and Excel
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Prepare and process payroll accurately and on schedule
- Process all CRA reports and payments on schedule
- Conduct account reconciliations to verify accuracy of financial data across various accounts
- Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve issues promptly
- Generate financial reports for management review, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations
- Support accountants by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial transactions to complete yearends and corporate taxes.
- Review any job contracts to be sure everything is covered and accurate.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping roles, preferably as a Senior Bookkeeper
- Proficiency with accounting software Sage 50 Premium as well as Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including payroll management, accounts payable/receivable, and account reconciliation
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and maintain accurate financial records
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and external auditors
- Familiarity with subcontractor management and construction documentation is an asset
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate bookkeeping and reporting.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
