Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated, creative, and enthusiastic Summer Student, to fulfill the role of Seniors Activities Leader. This position offers an excellent opportunity to invest in the lives of our resident seniors, while also gaining social and intellectual skills. The primary aspect of this job is to implement meaningful and engaging activities for our seniors. The successful youth will also be required to work in the adjoined cafeteria, offering experience in food and money handling, as well as customer service. Some gardening/yard work will also be required.
Responsibilities
- Organize and facilitate engaging and creative activities for seniors
- Plant vegetable seeds/seedlings, plant care, and harvesting
- Cooking, baking, preparing snacks
- Assist with seniors' mobility and transportation during outings
- Preparing the cafeteria for service, serving hot food items, handling cash and coupons, clean up, and cash counting
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to create and/or facilitate engaging activities for seniors
- Ability to perform landscape maintenance tasks efficiently and safely
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic math skills and money counting
- Basic knowledge of food prep and hygiene
Pay: $17.60 per hour
