THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales and Marketing to provide national sales and marketing leadership across our portfolio of retirement communities in Ontario and Alberta.
Reporting to Steve Strong, President and Chief Operating Officer, this is a hands-on leadership role focused first and foremost on occupancy growth, sales performance, coaching and execution. The successful candidate will work closely with Executive Directors and community Sales and Marketing Managers to identify opportunities, diagnose performance challenges and implement practical strategies that improve results.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced sales leader who enjoys being close to the business and the teams, someone who can interpret the data, spend time in our communities, understand what is driving performance and work alongside local leadership to strengthen results.
The position is GTA-based and primarily remote, with regular travel to communities throughout Ontario and to Calgary. Remote flexibility is balanced with a strong in-community expectation, with regular time spent alongside local leadership and sales teams to support performance and results.
THE SPECIFICS
- Employment Term: 12-month fixed term contract

- Compensation: $130,000 - $140,000 annual base salary; also eligible for a discretionary, performance-based bonus up to 10%

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead sales performance across the portfolio to support occupancy, revenue and net move-in objectives.
- Work alongside Sales and Marketing Managers to assess performance, identify barriers, diagnose sales challenges and develop and implement improvement plans.
- Provide hands-on coaching related to prospect strategy, pipeline management, tours, follow-up, conversion and closing.
- Provide functional sales leadership, standards and performance oversight to community Sales and Marketing Managers, while partnering closely with Executive Directors who retain direct accountability for their community teams.
- Monitor occupancy, pipeline, conversion, lead aging and forecasting to identify risks and opportunities.
- Create focused action plans for communities requiring additional sales support and work with community leadership to drive improvement.
- Develop, recommend and evaluate pricing strategies, suite-specific promotions and sales incentives based on occupancy, inventory and local market conditions.
- Lead CRM, pipeline management and occupancy forecasting processes.
- Lead corporate and community marketing strategy in support of sales, lead generation, occupancy and brand objectives.
- Oversee digital marketing, website content, advertising, social media, outreach, events and external marketing partners.
- Monitor competitive activity, pricing, promotions and market trends to support effective community sales strategies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regular travel, including frequent road and air travel to communities across Ontario and Alberta.
- Flexibility to attend community events and sales initiatives, and respond to time-sensitive sales and occupancy needs outside of regular business hours when required.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining a regular and meaningful on-site presence within communities.
WHO YOU ARE
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly.
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressive sales and sales leadership experience, including responsibility for coaching and improving the performance of sales teams.
- Demonstrated success driving occupancy, sales conversion, net move-ins and revenue growth.
- Proven experience coaching and developing sales professionals.
- Strong ability to diagnose sales performance challenges and translate findings into practical action plans.
- Multi-site or regional sales leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and build effective relationships in a decentralized, multi-site environment.
- Retirement living, senior living, hospitality, healthcare, real estate or related consumer sales experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of consultative sales, CRM systems, pipeline management and forecasting.
- Experience with marketing strategy, lead generation, digital marketing, social media and brand management.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM technology, sales management systems and related sales reporting and analytics software.
- Ability to effectively use sales data, dashboards and reporting tools to monitor pipeline activity, conversion, forecasting and community performance.
- Must be able to provide a police check with vulnerable sector screen upon hire.
- Must be able to provide results of TB (tuberculosis) testing (2-step skin test or chest x-ray) upon hire.
- Must be able to provide a record of vaccination for COVID-19 (minimum 2 doses) upon hire.
