Natural Pastures Cheese Company is a small, Comox Valley-based, artisan cheese manufacturer that takes pride in the quality of the products it produces. This is a 5 day a week job - Monday to Friday / We are closed holidays and a week over Christmas usually as well.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurate record keeping
- Organizational / multi-tasking skills
- Cut & package variety of products by hand
- Use a variety of tools - including manual pallet jack and mechanical/electronic machinery
- Load and wrap / receive and unload pallets by hand
- Cleaning/sanitization of workspace & equipment
- Ability to lift 50 lb./25 kg, bend / twist, standing for long periods of time
- Good hearing and communications skills, as it is a factory setting
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
- Employ Food Safe practices
- Strictly adhere to all WorkSafe BC regulations and safe work practices
- Follow all company policies (Personnel, Covid, Safety, Confidentiality)
- Follow all applicable federal & provincial laws/legislation
- Love the cheese and everything about it...
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- High school graduation needed with Grade 11/12 English Level or equivelent
- Grade 11 Math or Science or Equivalent
- WHMIS (or willing to obtain)
- Violence & Harassment Awareness/Prevention Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 – asset
- Kitchen Courses a benefit
Experience
- Experience working in a food production facility or busy professional kitchen – strong asset
- Experience on a fast moving team that achieves hard set goals daily.
- Strong communication, relationship-building & interpersonal skills
- Health & safety experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting – asset
- HACCP principles/practice – the SQF Institute certs a big asset
