OVERVIEW
To apply the most current techniques and knowledge for the processing of sterile products in order to provide high quality service in the supply of med-surgical products and instrumentation to user areas. The role is responsible for understanding the fundamentals in the areas of decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, instrument and supplies.
The Medical Device and Reprocessing Technician role will be located at the TEHN Surgical Centre (located at 20 Wynford Dr.). The incumbent may be assigned to Michael Garron Hospital (825 Coxwell Avenue) as required.
EDUCATION
- Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent.
- Successful completion of MDRD certification from an accredited college (completion of program within the last 2 years) required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One-year experience (within the last 2 years) working in an MDRD environment-required
- Adheres to hospital's workplace safety standards pertinent to position.
- experience in the functions of assembly, prep and package, decontamination of surgical case carts/instrument / trays / equipment.
- Able to demonstrate good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lift 25 lbs repeatedly and push items over 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Ability to work all shifts including weekends and night shift.
- Good work and attendance record required.
