CoBoSo | Vancouver, BC | Summer 2025 | Contract / Casual
Set your own schedule. Coach on your terms. Get paid to do what you love.
About CoBoSo
Hey there! CoBoSo is a grassroots sailing marketplace launching its 2025 Vancouver pilot. We connect certified coaches with idle dinghies and people eager to try sailing, helping to remove barriers and make sailing more accessible.
We're not a club. We're not an academy. CoBoSo is an independent platform built around flexible, coach-led sessions on shared boats. You bring the expertise; we handle the matching, coordination, and logistics.
The Role
You'll lead 2-3 hour introductory and recreational sailing sessions using privately owned dinghies coordinated through our platform. Sessions are beginner-focused - no certifications are issued - and you'll be matched with clients based on your availability and boat preferences.
This is a contract, session-by-session role. You decide when you work. You accept or decline each session offered to you. No rigid schedules, no mandatory hours.
What You'll Do
- Lead safe, engaging 2-3 hour on-water sessions for beginner and recreational sailors
- Rig and de-rig the assigned dinghy at the session location (JSCA, RVYC, KYC, Hollyburn, Rocky Point)
- Submit a brief post-session condition log (photo + notes) to CoBoSo after each session
- Communicate professionally with CoBoSo and clients before and after each session
- Coach within your certification level and adhere to safe on-water practices
What We're Looking For
- Active CANSail certification (any level - CanSail 1–2 through Race Coach) or foreign equivalent certification process
- Comfortable coaching on dinghies such as 420, Club FJ, Hobie, Lightning, RS Feva, or similar
- Based in Metro Vancouver for Summer 2025
- Patient, encouraging coaching style with strong communication skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Club membership at one of our target clubs is an asset, but not required
Compensation
Guaranteed minimum of $60 per 2-hour session ($30+/hr). Final rate may vary based on your certification level, the boat type, and session timing. You'll always see the confirmed rate before committing - and you can always decline.
Schedule & Availability
Sessions run mornings (8AM–12PM), afternoons (12PM–4PM), and evenings (4PM–8PM), any day of the week. You pick the blocks that work for you.
The pilot runs Summer 2025. Coaches who perform well will be first in line as CoBoSo grows - priority bookings, higher pay rates, and more.
Important: Insurance Notice
CoBoSo is an independent grassroots project and is therefore note yet affiliated with Sail Canada. So sessions are not yet covered by Sail Canada insurance. Participation is voluntary and at your own discretion.
Why CoBoSo?
- True flexibility - no fixed schedule, no mandatory minimums, no club politics
- Guaranteed pay per session, confirmed before you commit
- Be part of building something new - pilot coaches shape how the platform grows
- Expand your reach beyond a single club or program
- Help make sailing genuinely accessible in Vancouver
