We are currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team and support operations from both our Nisku and Drayton Valley facilities.
Position Overview
The Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy-duty equipment, trucks, trailers, drilling rigs, and support equipment used in oilfield operations. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
The successful candidate will split their time between our Nisku and Drayton Valley operations and may occasionally travel to field locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on drilling rigs, support equipment, heavy trucks, trailers, and light-duty fleet vehicles.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs.
- Complete inspections and maintenance in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Coordinate parts ordering and inventory requirements.
- Conduct pre-CVIP inspections (asset depending).
- Assist with fleet management and equipment scheduling.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Support field operations during critical breakdowns when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications Required
- Alberta Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty mechanical experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred
- Oilfield equipment experience.
- Experience working on drilling rigs, crawler carriers, skid steers, excavators, heavy trucks, and trailers.
- Class 1 or Class 3 Driver's License.
- CVIP Certification.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience with fleet maintenance software and electronic work orders.

Compensation
Expected Wage Range:
$48.00 – $60.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Additional compensation may be available for:
- Field call-outs
- Overtime
- Standby requirements
- Class 1/3 licensing
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Monday to Friday (with flexibility based on operational requirements)
- Occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs
- Travel between Nisku, Drayton Valley, and field locations as required
