Job Summary
This part-time position is ideal for a recently retired teacher who wants to stay in the classroom and continue to share their experiences and expertise.
We are seeking a dedicated and Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons, supporting student development, and fostering a positive learning environment. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to student success across various age groups and skill levels.
The applicant should have qualifications and experience in teaching the following subject(s):
· ENGLISH 9-12
· SOCIAL STUDIES 9-12
· ELL SUPPORT (training and experience not required but an asset)
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
- Deliver engaging instruction to diverse classroom populations
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs, including those requiring special education support
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assessments
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student achievement
- Provide tutoring and additional support outside regular class hours as needed
- Proofread and review instructional materials for clarity and accuracy
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages learning and respect
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Bachelors degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study (e.g. Bachelor of Science plus a Bachelor of Education or Professional Development Program [PDP] in teacher education at the Secondary Level).
2. A valid British Columbia Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate;
3. Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practica experience in the relevant subject area.

If you are currently a teacher candidate and do not yet have your certificate, please include the date by which your program will be completed. Please note: courses at the 300/400 level equal to 18 credits relevant to the prescribed curriculum and a teaching methodology course in the subject area are considered necessary qualifications for the position.
