We are seeking a skilled Carpenter/Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and construction, with the ability to work effectively on various projects. This role requires attention to detail, a solid understanding of building practices, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. The Carpenter/Laborer will be responsible for rough and finish carpentry tasks, tiling and painting ensuring high-quality workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
You must be able to get to the job site on your own. Our work is primarily within 30 minutes of Owen Sound
You must also have a valid working at heights certificate
Duties
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures
- General contracting work including tiling, trimming, painting, drywall patching, siding, framing, soffit and fascia
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications.
- Perform caulking, tile laying, and assembly tasks as needed for various projects.
- Assist in the restoration of existing structures while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure all work is plumb, level, and square according to project specifications.
- Collaborate with other trades such as electrical workers to complete projects efficiently.
- Conduct construction estimating for materials needed on upcoming jobs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in carpentry or related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with construction methods and materials is essential.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Experience with electrical work is a plus but not required.
- Tiling experience is considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues on-site.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
