The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Wills & Estates and Real Estate practice in our St. Andrews office. This is a full-time, in-office position. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.
The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional support to lawyers and clients in a busy legal practice.
Responsibilities
* Prepare wills, powers of attorney, personal directives, probate, and estate administration documents.
* Assist with residential and commercial real estate transactions from file opening through closing.
* Draft, format, proofread, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
* Maintain electronic and paper client files and ensure deadlines are met.
* Coordinate lawyer calendars, client appointments, and file activities.
* Communicate professionally with clients, financial institutions, realtors, government offices, and other legal professionals.
* Conduct title searches and assist with real estate registrations as required.
* Assist with billing, file opening and closing, and general administrative duties.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and a high standard of client service.
Qualifications
* Minimum 1 year of experience.
* Experience in Wills & Estates and/or Real Estate is strongly preferred.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.
* Legal Administration or Paralegal diploma is considered an asset.
