Job Title: Shipper / Receiver Assistant
Job Summary
The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming materials. This role ensures accuracy in shipping and receiving records, maintains inventory integrity, and supports efficient warehouse operations while following company policies and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping Duties
- Prepare, package, and label outgoing shipments accurately
- Verify orders against shipping documents (pick lists, packing slips)
- Coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups
- Ensure shipments meet customer and carrier requirements
- Maintain shipping records and documentation
Receiving Duties
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage
- Verify quantities and items against purchase orders and packing slips
- Report discrepancies or damaged goods to supervisors
- Properly store received materials in designated locations
Inventory & Warehouse Support
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Keep shipping and receiving areas clean, organized, and safe
Compliance & Safety
- Follow workplace safety guidelines and company procedures
- Ensure proper handling of materials, including hazardous goods if applicable
- Maintain compliance with shipping regulations and documentation requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous shipping/receiving or warehouse experience required
Skills & Abilities
- Min 4 years forklift experience.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, email, spreadsheets)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions
- Warehouse or distribution center environment
- May involve exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
- Overtime or shift work may be required
Schedule
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
