We are seeking a skilled Handyman / Renovation Subcontractor to join our team. This role involves performing a wide range of renovation, repair, and construction tasks on residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and finishing. You will be responsible for executing projects efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety protocols. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects that require technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Operate hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment, and specialized machinery safely and effectively.
- Perform carpentry tasks such as cabinet installation, framing, drywall installation and finishing.
- Conduct concrete forming and finishing work, as required.
- Painting and restoration work.
- Handle plumbing tasks, including pipe repairs and fixture installations.
- Execute electrical work with experience in wiring, circuit installation, or troubleshooting.
- Apply caulking and sealing techniques to ensure weatherproofing and finish quality.
- Estimate project costs and materials using construction estimating skills.
- Understand and navigate project drawings, specifications, and plan layouts.
- Operate heavy equipment safely for excavation or material handling when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety standards at all times.
- Attention to detail and protection of client property.
- Willing to maintain health and safety standards.
- Participate in further education in health and safety.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction or renovation projects with a strong understanding of multiple trades such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation
- Knowledge of concrete forming, finishing techniques, and restoration processes
- Experience with construction estimating is a plus, but not required for all roles
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to various project requirements
Position Details
- 20–25 hours per week to start
- $30–35/hour, based on experience
- Additional hours available as workload increases: Supportive environment with training available to develop new skills.
