Solivarchi Fire Protection is seeking motivated students currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Fire Prevention, Building Sciences, or related program who are in at least their second year of study. About the Role As a Fire Protection Engineering Intern / Junior Fire Inspector, you will assist in conducting inspections and compliance reviews for a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential buildings. You will gain hands-on experience working with fire protection systems, building owners, contractors, and industry professionals while developing practical knowledge that complements your education.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct fire and life safety inspections of buildings.
Inspect fire extinguishers and verify maintenance and compliance requirements.
Review sprinkler systems and identify deficiencies or non-compliant conditions.
Assist with inspections of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and exit signage.
Review buildings for compliance with applicable fire codes and life safety requirements.
Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports.
Work with building owners, property managers, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
Assist senior inspectors and engineers with audits, testing, and compliance reviews.
Monitor and track corrective actions required to address deficiencies. Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Fire Prevention, or related program.
Minimum completion of first year of study.
Understanding of fire protection systems and basic fire code requirements.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and professionally in the field.
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is considered an asset. Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and NFPA standards.
Knowledge of sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, extinguishers, and life safety equipment.
Previous experience preparing reports and maintaining inspection records. Experience in construction, building inspections, engineering consulting, maintenance, or property management. Construction Experience is a Major Asset Candidates with practical construction knowledge are strongly encouraged to apply. A strong understanding of how buildings are constructed and how electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems interact is highly valuable when inspecting fire protection and life safety systems.
