Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant with experience in personal injury law to join our team. The successful candidate will support one or more lawyers by managing client files, preparing legal documents, and ensuring that all administrative aspects of the practice run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, settlement proposals, and correspondence
- Manage personal injury files from intake to resolution
- Schedule appointments, examinations for discovery, IMEs, mediations, and court appearances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date file organization (both paper and electronic)
- Communicate professionally with clients, insurance companies, medical providers, and court staff
- Track deadlines, limitation periods, and court timelines
- Prepare and submit court documents and forms via appropriate portals
- Perform other administrative tasks as required to support the legal team
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in personal injury law
- Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
- Strong knowledge of Ontario court procedures and rules (including the Rules of Civil Procedure)
- Familiarity with plaintiff-side personal injury file handling, including AB and tort
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal practice management software (e.g., Filevine)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive client information
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
