Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) – Greeter is the first point of contact for all
customers, drivers, and visitors entering the facility. This role is responsible for delivering a
positive customer experience while ensuring safe, efficient traffic flow and proper material
handling within the yard.
The CSR Greeter works closely with Scale Operators, Operations, and Customer Service teams to
verify loads, direct traffic, respond to customer inquiries, and support day-to-day site
operations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Interaction & Site Entry
- Greet all customers, drivers, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Provide clear directions to scale, tipping areas, and designated unloading zones
- Act as the primary point of contact for all inbound site traffic
- Communicate site rules, safety procedures, and expectations
Traffic Control & Load Management
- Direct and manage vehicle flow to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Work closely with Scale Operators to:
o Verify and assess incoming loads
o Ensure materials are directed to the correct disposal areas
- Monitor tipping areas and assist in maintaining safe unloading practices
- Identify and report unauthorized or unsafe materials
Customer Service Support
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding:
o Accepted materials
o Site procedures
o Hours of operation
o Basic pricing and services
- Resolve customer concerns professionally or escalate when required
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience from arrival to departure
Operational Support
- Maintain communication with Operations regarding:
o Incoming and outgoing loads
o Site capacity and flow
o Customer or hauler issues
- Assist with basic scale operations coverage during peak periods or absences
- Support coordination of bin rentals and general service inquiries when needed
- Maintain accurate records or logs as required
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all site safety rules and procedures
- Ensure customers follow proper unloading and traffic guidelines
- Remain aware of surroundings in a high-traffic industrial environment
- Report hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately
- Assist customers with unloading materials when required, while maintaining safety
standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Team-oriented with a proactive and adaptable approach
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel considered an asset)
- Valid driver’s license required
Work Environment
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, snow)
- Regular exposure to moving vehicles, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and odors
- Fast-paced, high-traffic industrial setting
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and perform manual tasks
- Occasional assistance with unloading materials
Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation (no public transit available)
- Flexibility to work at multiple locations, as required
