Job Summary:
The Youth Worker supports vulnerable youth ages 12–24 by delivering frontline assistance within Cyrus Centre’s Drop-In Resource Centre, Emergency Housing, and Supportive Housing programs. This role applies trauma-informed practices to promote safety, stability, and personal growth. As part of a collaborative team, the Youth Worker communicates effectively with youth and colleagues to ensure consistent care and connection in a respectful, hope-filled environment.
Responsibilities
- Supports youth in building life skills, setting goals, and navigating challenges.
- Delivers crisis response, supervision, and emotional support to youth in shelter and housing programs.
- Applies trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches in daily interactions.
- Communicates clearly and compassionately with youth, staff, and external partners.
- Organizes and facilitates daily routines and activities in a way that fosters community and safety.
- Monitors facility access and implements safety protocols, including wellness checks.
- Supports youth in connecting with community services and internal case planning.
- Maintains accurate documentation and contributes to program reporting.
- Promotes an inclusive and respectful environment that aligns with Cyrus Centre’s values.
- Contributes to the cleanliness, upkeep, and overall atmosphere of the facility
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor within the same scope and level of the role.

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Services or a related field (or currently working toward completion).
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience supporting vulnerable youth or working in a similar frontline setting.
- Overdose awareness and Naloxone Administration Training also an asset.
- Emergency First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training are assets.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector).
- Demonstrated alignment with Cyrus Centre’s mission and faith-based values.
