Roles and Responsibilities:
- Process planning, programming, and setting up CNC machines to produce products that meet safety, quality, cost, compliance, and efficiency objectives.
- Trouble shooting and optimization.
- Although this is a day shift position (Monday through Friday), there will be times when you are required to assist other shifts (e.g. introducing new processes or product, training).
- Write, modify, edit and troubleshoot CNC programs
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sample parts, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
- Establish optimal feeds and speeds of machines for the production process
- Run test samples, monitor equipment operation and make operating adjustments as required
- Interact with Engineering and Production staff to solve production related problems
- Make recommendations to improve processes and yields, reduce cost and improve quality
- Set up and maintain adjustable support tools (fixturing)
- Monitor quality and troubleshoot machine processes as needed, adjusting setups, calibrations and alignments and reprograming controls to achieve established quality standards
- Contribute to the skills development of CNC operators (changeovers, setup and tool changes)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing CNC programming, together with a minimum of 3 years experience in setting up CNC milling machines, fixtures and tools
- Proven proficiency with Mastercam (3 axis)
- Proficient in practical application of GD&T (identify, understand and communicate engineering tolerances)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Detail oriented with emphasis on quality
- Strong organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal skills: able to work effectively with a diverse group of co-workers in a multi-cultural environment, as a co-worker or team member, and sometimes as a trainer or coach
- Willing to ask for clarification when drawings or instructions are unclear and to ask for help when you need it
- Reliable and dependable: your team can count on you to be there and to deliver as promised
- Safety conscious: you know that safety comes first and you don’t cut corners
- Effective communicator with a positive and respectful manner; uses tact and diplomacy
