Position Overview
As a Junior Estimator, your primary responsibility will be performing detailed material take-offs and delivering accurate project data to our management team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from industry veterans and grow your career in estimating and project management.
Key Responsibilities
● Material Take-offs: Review project blueprints, architectural drawings, and site specifications to compile comprehensive, precise material lists.
● Reporting to Management: Provide detailed take-off information and data to project managers to assist in the final pricing process.
● QuickBooks Estimating: Prepare and submit finalized project estimates via QuickBooks once they have been reviewed and approved by a manager.
● Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, sales teams, and site supervisors to ensure a seamless transition from the bidding phase to project execution.
● Database Maintenance: Update and maintain estimating software, historical cost data, and tracking spreadsheets.
Qualifications & Skills
● Experience: 1–3 years of experience in construction estimating, drafting, or hands-on stucco/trades experience is preferred (but we are willing to train the right candidate).
● Education: Educational background in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field is a strong asset.
● Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and structural plans.
● Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel). Experience with QuickBooks is a major asset. Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) or CAD is a plus.
● Attributes: High attention to detail, strong math skills, excellent time management, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
● Language: English (required).
