The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a 2nd Year Apprentice to Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Grande Prairie Service team.
In this role, you will diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and customer equipment. You will work on a wide range of systems including:
- Fuel systems
- Lubrication systems
- Powertrain
- Engines
- Cooling systems
- HVAC
- Exhaust systems
- Engine controls
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Suspension
- Steering
- Hydraulic and air brake systems
- Frame components
Most work will be completed in the shop and yard, with occasional work at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose truck and equipment concerns and determine required repairs
- Complete repairs efficiently and accurately
- Ensure customer units are operating properly before release
- Communicate repair findings clearly to the Shop Foreman and Service Writers
- Identify and report additional defects found during repairs
- Assist in determining whether failures may be warrantable
- Follow manufacturer repair and maintenance guidelines
- Install rig-up equipment on customer and new sales units as required
- Protect customer units and parts from damage during repairs
- Complete work order paperwork accurately
- Provide clear corrective stories to support time spent on repairs
- Ensure all required documentation is completed and filed with the work order
- Maintain accurate technician punch times and correct issues immediately
- Complete required dealer training by assigned deadlines
- Stay current on product updates and new technical information
- Support teammates and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Treat company, customer, and employee property with respect
- Follow all workplace safety policies and regulations
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately
Qualifications
- 2nd Year Apprentice through Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician
- Adequate personal tooling to perform repairs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional and respectful with customers and coworkers
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a busy shop environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required
- Class 1 or Class 3 licence with Q endorsement is considered an asset and may qualify for premium pay
