Personal Lines Underwriter
Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid/On-site)
Our client, a well-established and growing insurance organization, is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriter to join their Calgary team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and relationship-driven underwriting professional looking to work with a collaborative and high-performing group.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of personal lines business, ensuring profitability while delivering exceptional service to broker partners. You will play a key role in risk assessment, pricing, and building strong broker relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal personal lines business in accordance with company guidelines
- Evaluate risk exposures and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders
- Provide technical underwriting support and guidance to brokers
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities for growth and improvement
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of personal lines underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of personal auto and property products
- CIP designation (or working towards) is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
