Magnetar Services Inc. is an industrial service company specializing in laser cladding, grinding, repair, and finishing of oilfield and industrial components.
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Shop & Delivery Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position combining shop support, shipping and receiving, industrial grinding, and local pickup and delivery duties.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working around industrial equipment, can safely operate a truck and gooseneck trailer, and is willing to learn our grinding and finishing processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive incoming customer parts, materials, and supplies.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against paperwork.
- Load and unload trucks safely.
- Prepare completed parts for customer pickup or delivery.
- Package, secure, and protect components for transportation.
- Assist with organizing customer parts and maintaining proper job identification and traceability.
- Maintain an organized shipping and receiving area.
- Communicate discrepancies, damage, or missing items to management.
Delivery Driving
- Perform local and regional pickups and deliveries using company vehicles.
- Operate 1-ton trucks and gooseneck trailers.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload oilfield tools and other heavy components.
- Complete required pre-trip inspections and ensure trucks and trailers are safe for operation.
- Ensure loads are properly positioned and secured before transport.
- Maintain professional communication when dealing with customers and suppliers.
- Keep company vehicles and trailers clean and report maintenance or repair requirements.
- Follow all applicable traffic, load securement, and commercial vehicle regulations.
Industrial Grinding & Shop Work
- Operate industrial grinders and related finishing equipment.
- Grind and finish laser-cladded and repaired components to required dimensions and surface condition.
- Perform material removal and blending while avoiding damage to the base component.
- Use hand grinders, stationary grinding equipment, and other shop tools as required.
- Take basic measurements using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Follow work instructions, drawings, and job requirements.
- Perform visual inspections of completed work.
- Maintain grinding equipment and report damaged or worn tooling.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist other departments with general shop duties when required.
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Acceptable driver's abstract.
- Experience driving a 1-ton pickup truck required or strongly preferred.
- Experience towing and maneuvering a gooseneck trailer strongly preferred.
- Experience with grinders, fabrication equipment, machining, welding, or industrial shop work is an asset.
- Previous shipping and receiving experience is an asset.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools and industrial equipment.
- Able to read basic measurements and follow written work instructions.
- Able to safely secure loads for transportation.
- Reliable and able to work with limited supervision once trained.
Physical Requirements
This is an active industrial position. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Work on their feet for extended periods.
- Regularly lift and handle tools, materials, and equipment.
- Bend, kneel, reach, and work around large industrial components.
- Work safely around grinders, machinery, forklifts, trucks, and trailers.
- Wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
- Work in a shop environment where noise, dust, metal debris, and temperature changes are normal.
Mechanical lifting equipment is available for larger or heavier components, and employees are expected to use proper lifting and material-handling practices.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Opportunity for overtime depending on workload and customer requirements.
- Occasional schedule flexibility may be required for time-sensitive pickups or deliveries.

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour

Experience:
- 1 Ton Truck Driving: 1 year (preferred)
- Pulling Trailers: 1 year (preferred)
