BAR MANAGER – KEY PARTY
2305 Main St, Vancouver, BC | Full-time | Wed–Sun (availability required)
Compensation Package:
$20-$22 per hour
Gratuities: approx. $650-$1000/week
(~$75k-$95k/year)

Key Party is a dimly lit, intentionally hidden speakeasy on Main Street — a big date night destination known for original cocktails and cheeky twists on 60s and 70s classics. We're looking for a Bar Manager who can own the room, build regulars out of first-timers, and keep the bar running smoothly without all the admin that most bar managers hate.
This is a hands-on role. You're behind the stick four nights a week. The "manager" part means you're also the person who makes sure the experience is consistent enough to turn a first date into a regular date night.
What you'll be responsible for
- Bartending 4 shifts per week (typical schedule: Thursday to Sunday)
- Leading by example — you are the sole bartender on the floor Thu/Sun (except for Long Weekends)
- Building genuine connections with guests and converting one-off visits into regulars
- Designing a seasonal cocktail menu twice per year (April and September) — approachable to execute, strong enough to keep Key Party in the conversation for Vancouver's best cocktail programs
- Developing and maintaining opening, closing, cleaning, and prep routines with the operations team
- Placing GFS orders (garnish, non-alcoholic, paper supplies) and BBS orders (chemical and cleaning supplies)
- Providing timely, honest feedback to bar staff
- Training and developing your team through coaching on double bartender nights
What this role does NOT include
- Staff scheduling
- Liquor, wine, or beer ordering
- Full inventory management
We've intentionally kept the admin out of this role so you can focus on what actually matters: being present behind the bar, making great drinks, and making Key Party worth coming back to.
What we're looking for
- Strong cocktail skills — you can build and execute a drink list with confidence
- Natural hospitality instincts and the ability to make guests feel like regulars from the first visit
- Comfort working independently and commanding the space solo
- A systems-oriented mindset — you notice when things drift and you correct them
- Willingness to give direct feedback to staff when it's needed
- Wednesday to Sunday availability (typical schedule is Thursday to Sunday)
