OVERVIEW
Our client, a leading commercial and industrial mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and industrial mechanical services, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. The company prides itself on delivering high-quality, timely, and cost-effective solutions to clients across Northern Ontario.
Reporting to the Vice President, the Operations Manager will take full ownership of day-to-day service operations, ensuring the efficient coordination, scheduling, and execution of field service work across multiple active projects. This role will act as the central hub between field crews and leadership, bringing structure, accountability, and consistency to workforce planning, timesheet and payroll accuracy, job tracking, and overall service delivery.
This is a newly created position designed to support the company’s continued growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping operational processes, improving efficiency, and supporting a high-performing, safety-focused workforce across commercial, industrial, and mining environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee and coordinate daily service operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and workforce planning across multiple job sites
· Act as the primary point of coordination between field crews and leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities
· Ensure accurate tracking and submission of timesheets, payroll inputs, and mileage reporting
· Monitor job progress, labour utilization, and productivity to ensure efficient execution of service work
· Coordinate staffing levels and resource allocation to meet project demands and timelines
· Ensure crews are properly equipped, dispatched, and compliant with company and client requirements
· Maintain and improve operational systems, processes, and documentation to enhance efficiency and accountability
· Support safety initiatives, including PPE compliance, training coordination, and adherence to company and site-specific safety standards
· Assist with onboarding, training coordination, and performance tracking of field staff
· Collaborate with estimating, project management, and leadership teams to support project execution and service delivery
· Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to support company growth
· Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to service operations
· Other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
· 5+ years of experience in operations, service coordination, or field leadership within mechanical, construction, or industrial environments
· Strong understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical services (HVAC, plumbing, piping, or related fields)
· Proven ability to manage scheduling, workforce planning, and field operations across multiple projects
· Experience with timesheet tracking, payroll coordination, and job cost awareness
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate between field teams and leadership
· High level of accountability, attention to detail, and ability to bring structure to fast-paced environments
· Strong commitment to safety and understanding of workplace health and safety practices
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with operational or project tracking systems
· Valid driver’s license
