Meat Clerk
Lucky Supermarket is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Meat Clerk to join our team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet or exceed company standards.
- Wrap and package prepared meats.
- Assist with preparing orders for special cuts as requested by customers.
- Courteously answer customer inquiries regarding meat products, serving sizes, and preparation methods.
- Stock displays and maintain adequate product levels within the department.
- Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered, rotated, and stored.
- Operate and sanitize equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace and food safety policies and procedures.
- Present a neat, fresh, and well-merchandised department at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
- Food Safe certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of meat department operations is an asset.
- Positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
- Previous retail or customer service experience in a grocery environment is an asset.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow directions and company policies.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Physically demanding position involving repetitive tasks.
- Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to safely lift and handle products weighing up to 50–100 lbs.
- Manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination required.
- Cold and refrigerated work environment.
