Job Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Heavy Equipment Float Driver to join our team. This role involves operating and transporting heavy machinery and freight across various locations, ensuring safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and automotive repair, with the flexibility to float between different job sites as needed. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, reliability, and technical skills are paramount.
Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as Dozers, loaders, excavators, skid steers etc.and other machinery to load, unload, and move freight efficiently.
- Transport freight and equipment between designated locations while adhering to safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Assist with the maintenance and minor repairs of heavy equipment and vehicles to ensure optimal operation.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment before use to identify potential issues or safety hazards.
- Coordinate with warehouse or site personnel to ensure timely delivery and proper handling of freight.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
- Support other team members with operational tasks as needed, including troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, and commercial vehicles.
- Must be able to drive 18 speed manual gearbox.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards related to heavy equipment operation.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 50lbs minimum
- Automotive repair skills are a plus for troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred or required depending on the region.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environments.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for recordkeeping and inspections.
- Flexibility to float between different job sites as operational needs dictate.
- Prior experience in freight transportation or logistics is desirable but not mandatory. This role is vital for maintaining smooth operations across multiple sites, requiring a dependable individual with technical expertise in heavy equipment and freight handling.
Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
