Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef/Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a restaurant or food service environment. This role involves preparing authentic sushi dishes, ensuring high standards of food safety, and delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. The Sushi Chef/Cook will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and presentation of our sushi offerings while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision and artistic presentation
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations in compliance with food safety standards
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and rotated regularly
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in quality
- Assist in menu development and suggest new sushi creations to enhance customer satisfaction
- Serve customers directly when required, providing excellent food service with professionalism
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation policies within the kitchen environment
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a sushi chef within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, serving practices, and food safety protocols
- Ability to handle raw fish and other ingredients safely and hygienically
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal preparation
- Experience with food handling regulations and maintaining cleanliness standards in a kitchen setting
- Good communication skills and ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Prior restaurant or kitchen experience is highly preferred; familiarity with the food industry is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards
Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
