Support Worker Team Lead
We are seeking a Support Worker Team Lead to care for a gentleman who suffered a stroke in childhood and is living with vision and hearing impairments. He lives in the River Heights neighborhood of Winnipeg.
Schedule:
5 shifts a week
- Sunday 3:30pm-Monday 8:30am
- Monday 3:30pm-Tuesday 8:30am
- Tuesday 3:30pm-Wednesday 8:30am
- Wednesday 3:30pm-Thursday 8:30am
- Thursday 3:30pm-Friday 8:30am
Responsibilities:
Providing overall care and support for the employer including (but not limited to):
- Preparing breakfast and supper for the employer
- Assisting him to eat his meals
- Helping the employer find and do things he enjoys
- Helping the employer connect with friends and family
- Helping the employer get ready for bed at night and get ready for the day in the morning
- Helping the employer use the washroom and bathe
- Communicating with the employer’s support network
- Laundry and housekeeping
You may sleep on these overnight shifts and will be signaled by the employer if he needs assistance.
Requirements:
- Physical ability to assist the employer in and out of bed and wheelchair (employer has lifts for going downstairs and in/out of bathtub)
- Capacity to remain patient and calm with the employer
- Clear criminal record check
- Clear adult abuse check
- First aid/CPR training
- Experience as a support worker or as a caregiver is an asset, but is not required
- Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle are an asset, but not required
Compensation:
- 8 hours paid at work rate ($19/hour)
- 9 hours paid at sleep rate ($16.00/hour or minimum wage)

- 4% vacation pay on each cheque
- Quarterly pension contributions
