This role owns the accuracy and integrity of completions data – systemization, mechanical completion (MC) packages, inspection and test records (ITRs), and punch lists – and acts as the key link between engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to drive systems toward Ready for Commissioning (RFC) and Ready for Startup (RFSU) status.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Configure, administer, and maintain the Hexagon Smart Completions database, including systemization of tag, line, and equipment data against P&IDs and other engineering deliverables.
- Build and manage MC packages, punch lists, ITRs, and turnover packages, ensuring alignment with project completions and commissioning philosophy.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and commissioning disciplines to resolve systemization discrepancies and maintain an accurate completions database throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track and report progress toward Mechanical Completion, Ready for Commissioning, and Ready for Startup milestones, including critical path and completions percentage reporting.
- Generate and distribute completions status reports, dashboards, and punch list metrics to project leadership and client stakeholders.
- Support Management of Change (MOC), non-compliance reporting, and safety isolation workflows within Smart Completions where applicable.
- Train and support field personnel, subcontractors, and client representatives on Smart Completions mobile and desktop workflows.
- Interface with client completions/commissioning systems and personnel to align on turnover requirements, data standards, and handover documentation.
- Participate in walkdowns and field verification to confirm as-built status aligns with the completions database.
- Support custody transfer and final turnover documentation from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in systems completions, mechanical completions, or commissioning coordination on industrial or energy projects.
- Demonstrated hands-on fluency in Hexagon Smart Completions (Intergraph Smart Completions), including systemization, MC package build, punch list management, and reporting modules.
- Working knowledge of completions and commissioning workflows across Construction, Static Commissioning, Dynamic Commissioning, and Startup.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, and other engineering deliverables used to build systemization data.
- Experience with RFI/TQ processes, ITR execution, and QA/QC turnover documentation.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel in particular) for data reconciliation and reporting.
PREFERRED / NICE TO HAVE
- Prior experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, or heavy industrial commissioning and startup (CSU) projects.
- Familiarity with Hexagon PPM's broader Smart suite (e.g., Smart 3D, SmartPlant) and their integration with Smart Completions.
- Exposure to client-side completions systems and turnover standards in addition to contractor-side workflows.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Based primarily at project site/field office, with periods of travel between Canadian and U.S. project locations.
- Combination of office-based database work and field walkdowns; may require use of standard field PPE.
