About the Role:
Global News Technology is seeking a full-time Broadcast Technician based in Toronto. Reporting to the Manager, News Technology, the successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to supporting reliable broadcast operations while demonstrating Corus values.
As this is a 24/7 operation, the position requires shift work, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call support as required.

You will contribute by:
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of broadcast systems, facilities, and equipment, including studio, control room, newsroom, and field support systems.
- Perform emergency and routine maintenance on broadcast and related technical equipment supporting News Operations and live and recorded productions.
- Support business, broadcast IT, and network-connected systems, including file-based and IP-based workflows.
- Implement and document temporary and permanent installations that meet operational and technical requirements.
- Ensure assigned projects are completed with a high standard of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Work closely with News Operations and production teams to maintain a consistent, high-quality on-air product.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers on equipment servicing, recommendations, and purchasing support.
- Maintain technical drawings and system documentation using current software tools, including Visio where applicable.
- Support remote broadcasts, mobile equipment, and field production requirements as assigned.
- Work rotating shifts and provide after-hours support as required.
- Represent Corus in a professional and courteous manner and perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in Broadcast Technology, Electronics, Computer Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot broadcast electronic systems in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong understanding of digital video and audio signals and their integration within broadcast systems.
- Working knowledge of server-based and file-based workflow technology, including computer hardware and workstation support.
- Experience with broadcast IT, networking, and IP-based systems is an asset.
- Familiarity with live television production environments, newsroom systems, and production support workflows.
- Familiarity with over-the-air transmission, microwave, satellite, or related contribution systems is an asset.
- Ability to interpret and maintain technical system documentation and CAD or Visio-based drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with operational teams, vendors, and suppliers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology, workflows, and integrated systems.
- Ability to perform occasional physical work, including lifting equipment and using ladders where required.
- A valid driver’s license and a clear driving record are assets.
