Job Summary:
As a Junior Structural Steel Detailer, you will play a crucial role in the design and construction process by creating detailed drawings and plans for structural steel components. Working closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals, you will contribute to the successful execution of construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and Detailing:
- Generate accurate and detailed drawings of structural steel components using Tekla Structures.
- Translate engineering and architectural drawings into comprehensive shop drawings and fabrication details.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior detailers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to address design issues and ensure compliance with project standards.
- Quality Assurance:
- Review and verify accuracy of own work to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Perform quality checks on drawings to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
- Material Takeoff:
- Assist in the preparation of material takeoffs and bill of materials for fabrication and construction purposes.
- Communication:
- Effectively communicate with team members, contractors, and clients to address queries and provide clarifications on drawings and details.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and best practices related to structural steel detailing.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Time Management:
- Prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and propose solutions to design and detailing challenges that may arise during the project.
Qualifications:
- Educational background in drafting, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Tekla Structures, Bluebeam).
- Understanding of structural steel construction and detailing principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
Experience:
Entry-level position; prior internship or coursework related to structural steel detailing is a plus.
