Position Summary
The Maintenance & Repairs Lead is responsible for managing and completing facility maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects across multiple residential and program locations. This is a hands-on position requiring a skilled individual who is comfortable performing carpentry, repairs, maintenance work, and general handyman duties while also coordinating contractors and prioritizing work orders when specialized trades are required.
The successful candidate will take ownership of facility maintenance needs from start to finish, ensuring properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the tools and takes pride in completing quality work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Maintenance Leadership
- Complete hands-on carpentry, repairs, maintenance, and renovation work across assigned locations.
- Perform drywall repairs, painting, trim work, door and hardware repairs, flooring repairs, fixture installation, and general maintenance tasks.
- Assess facility issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify preventative maintenance requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Work Order Management
- Review incoming work orders and determine priority levels.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues as required.
- Manage repairs from initial assessment through completion.
- Maintain accurate records and status updates for all work performed.
- Ensure completed work is properly documented and signed off.
Project Coordination
- Plan and complete small to medium-sized facility improvement projects.
- Coordinate contractors and trades when specialized work is required.
- Obtain quotes and source materials as needed.
- Monitor contractor work and ensure quality standards are met.
- Manage project timelines and budgets.
Procurement & Vendor Relations
- Purchase materials, supplies, and equipment required for repairs and maintenance.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors.
- Obtain and compare quotes for larger repair projects.
- Verify invoices against approved work and materials.
Client Damage Repairs & Documentation
For repairs resulting from client damage:
- Assess and repair damage caused within program locations where possible.
- Obtain contractor quotes when external repairs are required.
- Collect supporting documentation including photos, incident reports, and repair details.
- Assist with reimbursement documentation and tracking.
Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as the primary maintenance contact for house managers and program staff.
- Provide updates regarding repair timelines and project status.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, vendors, and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills
- Strong carpentry, maintenance, or handyman background.
- Journeyman Carpenter designation considered an asset but not required.
- 3+ years of hands-on maintenance, carpentry, construction, or facilities experience.
- Comfortable performing physical labour and repair work daily.
- Experience coordinating contractors and managing multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel between multiple sites.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check
Work Environment
- Primarily hands-on maintenance and repair work.
- Regular travel between residential and program locations.
- Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments.
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Occasional flexibility required to respond to urgent facility matters.
