Childcare Cook – Full Time
Location: Tiny Hoppers Fanshawe, 35 Jim Ashton Street, London, Ontario
Position Type: Full‑Time (40 hours per week)
Tiny Hoppers Fanshawe is seeking a dedicated, organized, and safety‑focused Childcare Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children, maintain a clean and compliant kitchen, and support the overall daily operations of our centre.
About the Role
The Childcare Cook is responsible for preparing daily meals and snacks that meet Ministry of Education requirements, Public Health standards, allergy restrictions, and centre policies. This role is essential in ensuring children receive safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate food throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily meals including morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack
- Follow approved menus and adjust for allergies or dietary needs
- Maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with Public Health regulations
- Manage allergies safely using strict separation and labelling practices
- Monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs to the Supervisor
- Complete daily logs including temperature checks and cleaning records
- Organize food storage using proper rotation (FIFO)
- Collaborate with educators to ensure smooth meal service and support classroom routines
Qualifications
- Valid Food Handler Certification (valid & up to date)
- Experience in a childcare, school, or commercial kitchen setting
- Strong understanding of allergy‑safe food preparation
- Ability to follow structured menus and licensing requirements
- Excellent time‑management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (required by licensing)
- Valid Standard 1st Aid - CPR-C
