IS2 Workforce Solutions is partnering with a fast-growing, Alberta-based busing company to recruit a Dispatchers. This role plays a critical role in supporting the bussing coordination, planning and maintaining service efficiency within the Operations department. This position is responsible for real-time route tracking, midday monitoring, and ensuring timely, clear communication with families, schools, and staff.
A key part of the role includes finding last-minute coverage for drivers and attendant absences. This position is also a frontline responder to on-road issues, incidents, and emergencies, upholding our commitment to safe, reliable, and timely student transportation. Job Types: Temporary to Permanent
Work Location: NE Calgary, In person
Pay Rate: Starting from $25/ hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday; Occasion rotational weekends.; 06:00-14:00 or 10:00-18:00
What You’ll Do:
1. Route Monitoring and Coverage
- Track live route progress to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs
- Monitor route accuracy and verify correct pickup and drop-off locations
- Manage staff coverage in response to last-minute book-offs for drivers and attendants
2. Communication and Support
- Communicate professionally with guardians and school contacts regarding delays, incidents, or concerns
- Respond promptly to inquiries, disruptions, and routing issues
- Answer phone calls professionally, maintaining a calm and solution-focused approach under pressure
3. Incident and Emergency Response
- Act as the primary delegate and responder in emergency situations, including collisions, behavioural incidents, and medical emergencies o Initiate appropriate actions, including contacting other departments and calling 911 on staff’s behalf when necessary
- Collaborate with the Operations team to document and resolve incidents, such as vehicle collisions, behavioural issues, and equipment malfunctions
What We’re Looking For:
1. Candidates with experience in crisis response, particularly those with dispatch or emergency services backgrounds, are encouraged to apply.
2. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure.
3. Experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation is an asset but not required – we’ll train the right person with the right attitude!
4. Solution-focused team players that can work well under pressure.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.
6. Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
7. Excellent communication – both with drivers on the road and customers on the phone.
8. Tech-savvy with dispatch/logistics systems
